LAKELAND DAIRIES / NISA DAIRY YOUNG HANDLERS’ CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025

The Lakeland Dairies / Northern Ireland Shows Association Young Handler Championship is being held this year at Clogher Valley Show on Wednesday, 30th July, 2025. All exhibitors wishing to qualify for this Championship must enter the name of their animal(s) and exhibitor details, at the qualifying show. It is important that the date of birth, contact details (phone number and/or email address) and parent/guardian details where these differ from the exhibitor details are all available. Ballymoney Show requires all exhibitors intending to put forward an animal for use in the Young Handler section to already have the animal entered and forward in a previous class at the Show.
The Qualified exhibitors will be the first, second and third qualified Young Handler in each age section of the Lakeland Dairies / NISA qualifying class at each qualifying show. Parents/Guardians are requested to ensure that exhibitors are practised and capable of handling the animal. One adult is welcome to enter the ring to ensure safety. In these classes the appearance and skill of the exhibitor will be considered. Rosettes will be awarded to each Qualified Young Handler. Championship & Reserve Championship sashes will be awarded at the final.

Prize Money at Championship, in each of the sections: 1st place £100, 2nd place £75, 3rd place £50.

The Qualifying Shows are: Ballymena, Ballymoney, Lurgan, Armagh, Saintfield, Newry, Omagh, Castlewellan, Limavady, Antrim and Clogher Valley

Best Group of three animals, in milk or dry, to include at least one heifer. Please note: All animals must be of the same breed and must be the bonafide property of the same owner or partnership.

All exhibitors wishing to qualify for this Championship must enter the name of their animal(s) and exhibitor details, at the qualifying show. It is important that the date of birth, contact details (phone number and/or email address) and parent/guardian details where these differ from the exhibitor details are all available. Ballymoney Show requires all exhibitors to put forward an animal for use in this Young Handler section to already have the animal entered and forward in a previous class at the show. The Qualified exhibitors will be the top three qualified Young Handlers in each age section of the Dunbia / NISA qualifying class at each qualifying show. ALL IRELAND SENIOR YOUNG STOCKPERSON CHAMPIONSHIP 2025 (18 - 25 YEARS OLD)

RULES AND CONDITIONS
1. The Competition is open to girls and boys, age on the 1st September will determine the class each exhibitor enters.
2. One exhibitor qualifies from each qualifying show for the Final.
3. Animals can be of any Beef breed, male, or female (pedigree or non-pedigree beef) and must be leading.
4. An exhibitor can show an animal belonging to another herd owner.
5. Senior exhibitors will exhibit an animal male or female calf born on or after 1st January 2023.
6. Calf identity cards to be available for inspection on show day.
7. Exhibitors may be asked for proof of their age at the final.
8. No Entries will be accepted on the day of the Qualifying Show.
9. Previous 1st Place Winners are no longer eligible to enter this age category.

THE COMPETITION WILL BE JUDGED ON CRITERIA, WHICH MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
1. The ability to handle and present the animal to its best advantage in the Show Ring.
2. General knowledge about the animal itself, including its feeding, breeding, etc.
3. Stock Judging, the ability to judge and place a group of animals.
4. Personal presentation of stock person.
5. Presentation of the animal.

PRIZES: 1st €700, 2nd €400, 3rd €250, 4th €200, 5th €150, 6th to 10th €100

FINAL: BALLINROE SHOW Sunday 7th September 2025

BANK OF IRELAND / NISA PEDIGREE JUNIOR BULL CHAMPIONSHIP 2025
For the best Junior Bull born on or after 1st January 2024.

Bank of Ireland / NISA Pedigree Junior Bull Championship 2025 is being held this year at Castlewellan Show on Saturday, 19th July 2025. All Exhibitors wishing to qualify for this Championship must enter the name of their animal(s) and exhibitor details in their respective class at the qualifying Show. Only the 1st and 2nd placed exhibits in all Junior Bull classes at Ballymoney Show are eligible to go forward to the Bank of Ireland / NISA Pedigree Junior Bull Qualifier that day.
To maximise attendance of qualifying exhibits at the Championship, stewards will enquire if it is the intention of the exhibitor to be present at Castlewellan Show on Saturday, 19th July, 2025 for the Championship. In the event of qualified exhibitors not wishing to attend the Championship, then the Judge will be asked to identify further qualifying animals. Qualifying Exhibitors who do not appear at the Championship may be disqualified from competing in Championships organised by NISA in 2026, unless good reason is given for such non-attendance.
No exhibitor may qualify more than two exhibits for the Championship. Animals cannot qualify at Castlewellan Show for the Championship. NISA will present special rosettes to the exhibitors for both qualifying animals at each Qualifying Show. Each animal forward at the Championship, who is not placed in the top four, will be paid attendance money of £20.

Prize money at the Final: 1st £300, 2nd £200, 3rd £100, 4th £50. (This prize money includes £20 attendance monies). Prize money will be forwarded, by cheque, to the named exhibitor at the address notified to the Qualifying Show. It is important that details of the exhibitor, animal, address, contact details, are correctly lodged with the Show Secretary.
