DANSKE BANK / NISA SHEEP CHAMPIONSHIP 2025

For the best ewe, any breed, any age, having reared a lamb in 2025.


The Danske Bank / NISA Sheep Championship 2025 is being held this year at Antrim Show on Saturday 26th July 2025. All exhibitors wishing to qualify for this Championship must enter the name / breed of their animal(s) and exhibitor details with the qualifying show. Only the 1st and 2nd placed ewes, any breed, any age, having reared a lamb in 2025, in the relevant Sheep classes at Ballymena Show are eligible to go forward to the Danske Bank / NISA Sheep Championship.

To maximise attendance of qualified exhibits at the final, stewards will enquire if it is the intention of the exhibitors to be present at Antrim Show on Saturday 26th July 2025 for the final.

In the event of the qualified exhibitors not wishing to attend the final, the Judge will be asked to identify further qualifying animals.

Qualifying exhibitors who do not appear at the final may be excluded from competing in NISA Championships organised in 2026, unless good reason is given for such non-attendance.

No exhibitor may qualify more than two exhibits for the championship final.

NISA will present special rosettes to the exhibitors of both qualifying animals at each qualifying Show. Each animal forward at the Championship final, not in the top four, will be paid attendance money of £20.00.

Champion - £300 plus Crystal Trophy and Sash
Res. Champion £200
3rd Prize £100
4th Prize £50

(The above prize monies include the £20 attendance monies).

Prize money will be forwarded, by cheque, to the named exhibitor at the address notified to the Qualifying Show. It is important that details of the exhibitor, animal, address, contact details, are correctly lodged with the Show Secretary.

The Qualifying Shows are Ballymena, Ballymoney, Lurgan, Armagh, Saintfield, Newry, Omagh, Castlewellan, Limavady and Antrim.

The capabilities of the handler will be assessed, not the animal being shown. Only animals that have already competed in the normal show classes may be used. All exhibitors must be deemed capable of handling the animal being shown and the owner of the animal being shown must be at a safe distance.

1. Three Young Handlers can qualify (if not already qualified at a previous Show).

2. The handler can use any breed of sheep.

3. All qualifiers will receive a qualifying Rosette and plaque at Clogher Valley Show.

4. This event is open to those aged 8-16 at the date of the Final.
